Industrial Decontamination Services

EFS was contracted to decontaminate the Deactivation Furnace System (DFS) at a federal chemical Agent Disposal Facility (PBCDF).  The DFS was a natural gas-fired furnace maintained at 1100 degrees F and was used to thermally decontaminate munitions components that had contained CB or VX agents.

EFS personnel utilized a dry ice blasting technique to remove baked on ash contaminated with heavy metals in order to restore the equipment to a state of “bare metal.”  Due to the risky work environment, EFS personnel adhered to strict safety requirements including confined space entry training, respirator use, and personal decontamination methods.

After completing the project ahead of schedule, our client had this to say about the EFS team, “Thanks you for your continued support in bringing such a huge task to a safe and successful completion.”
